for most of the day Sunday http://www.redskinsfootballauthentics.com/josh-norman-jersey-authentic , with the Redskins prevailing to improve to 5-2 on the season, and a strong-hold on first place in the NFC East. The win may not be as pretty for those who are used to seeing 300 yards of passing, but it was a sight for sore eyes for fans who have had to watch the Skins defense get gashed on the ground by opposing running backs for years. Below are my Studs and Duds of the game.Studs:Adrian Peterson - It seems AP is becoming quite a regular on the Studs list this season. The 33 year old rushed 26 times for 149 yards and a touchdown, and caught one pass for seven yards and a score. He did fumble once, but that’s a rarity for him. He has 587 rushing yards a four scores on the season, while adding nine receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown. Josh Doctson - Normally five receptions and 49 yards wouldn’t land you on the Studs list, but if you’re Josh Doctson, it does. He caught all five of his targets, and looks to be getting more comfortable with Alex Smith. Cerberus (Ioannidis, Allen and Payne) - In Greek mythology, the Three Headed Hound of Hades, is a multi-headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving. It is said to have a serpent’s tail, a mane of snakes and lion’s claws. This is the best depiction I can think of to describe Matt Ioannidis, Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. The trio combined for 12 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and six quarterback hits. They held all-world running back Saquon Barkley to just 38 yards on 13 carries. They are certainly preventing running backs from leaving the backfield this season. Ryan Kerrigan - Kerrigan had 4 tackles, 1.5 sacks http://www.redskinsfootballauthentics.com/trent-williams-jersey-authentic , and multiple quarterback pressures on the afternoon. He’s back (although some say he was never gone)!Mason Foster - Foster was a tackling machine, racking up 13 combined tackles, and playing pretty darn well against the pass. D.J. Swearinger - If Swearinger is not having an All-Pro type of season, then I don’t know who is. The safety was once again the enforcer on the back end, and notched two interceptions (a total of four for the season). His prowess as both a box safety and a single high were on display against the Giants. Duds:Alex Smith - Stop double-clutching and just throw the damn ball!Vernon Davis - Father Time was not himself on Sunday, getting a costly penalty, dropping an easy pass and blocking poorly. Better days will be in store for the veteran. Red-Zone Offense - It may be worse than last year...Worth Mentioning:Greg Stroman - Stroman was not perfect on the afternoon, but I thought he played very well as a starter against a talented Giants receiving corps. He did have a bad pass interference call against OBJ (which was declined due to a great catch), but seems to be improving each game. He made a heck of a play on the deep ball to Shepard late in the second quarter. Brandon Scherff/Chase Roullier - The interior duo were just beasts in open space. They helped in a rushing attack that produced 182 yards, and allowed zero sacks on Smith. Ty Nsekhe - Nsekhe came in for the injured Trent Williams and pretty much held his own on the left side.Redskins Vs. Packers - Studs and Duds On a rainy day at FedEx field, the Redskins endured the sloppy conditions to beat the Packers 31-17. The win came at a perfect time, as they enter the bye week at 2-1, and with a bit of momentum. The early bye week also comes at a good time for the Redskins as they have a few players dinged up who can use the extra week to get healthy - Trent Williams “clean-up” knee procedure being the newest. They also have a new face at wide receiver, Michael Floyd, who they would like to assimilate into the offense sooner rather than later.Overall, Sunday’s home game was a solid showing on both sides of the ball and special teams. Hopefully it gives the team a bit of swagger, and the fans some renewed hope for the long stretch that is ahead of them. Below are my Studs and Duds of the game.Studs:Alex Smith - The numbers may not have been gaudy (12/20 http://www.redskinsfootballauthentics.com/ryan-kerrigan-jersey-authentic , 220 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception), but it was Smith’s command of the offense, the RPO’s, and the way he used his legs when needed that land him on this list. I think he’s only going to get better as the season progresses. Adrian Peterson - Peterson was back on track against a pretty solid Packers front seven, rushing for 120 yards on 19 carries (a 6.3 YPC average) and two touchdowns. He showed patience, vision, speed, burst and power on the afternoon, and again showed what a good, capable running back can achieve in this offense.Jordan Reed - Reed was a key cog in the offense Sunday, catching 4 passes for 65 yards, but it was also his blocking that stood out on the day. So far on the young 2018 season, Reed has looked much better blocking than at any point in his career. Chase Roullier - Center or guard - it doesn’t seem to matter. Roullier has stood out as one of the team’s better linemen through the first three games. He moves very well in space, and re-directs his body effectively once he gets there to seal off the defender from the ball carrier. His power at impact generates from the hips, and the man always seems to play through the whistle. Daron Payne/Jonathan Allen - The dynamic Alabama duo played their best games as pros against the Packers on Sunday. Allen collect two sacks and three quarterback hits to go along with five tackles, and Payne chipped in with his first NFL sack http://www.redskinscheapstore.com/morgan-moses-jersey-cheap , a quarterback hit and and five tackles. These two monsters are going to be a force for years to come. Matt Ioannidis - Ioan-man continues to be a force along the defensive front, collecting yet another sack and just bullying opposing offensive linemen who stand in his way. He’s recorded a sack in each game this season. Tress Way - The man averaged 47 yards per punt on five attempts with a long of 57!Duds:Josh Doctson - Doctson continued his disappearing act again on Sunday, He was the only starting pass catcher who failed to record a reception against the Packers. He simply fails to get open against one-on-one coverage. He has just five receptions for 48 yards on the young season. Ty Nsekhe - Nsekhe looked horrible against the Packers Sunday when he came in at right tackle for the injured Morgan Moses. he was slow, off-balance, and was called for multiple penalties on the afternoon. We need to get Geron Christian up and running as soon as humanly possible. Zach Brown - Maybe missing the majority of the off-season program and much of the preseason is not a good look after the team rewarded you with a new contract. Brown has not been the same at inside linebacker so far in three games. His reads look off, his fills look slow, and he’s getting blocked at the second level way too often. Am I nit-picking here...you tell me. Overall, it was a pretty well executed game plan by our Skins! Defensively, we kept the Packers receivers in front of us, and did well making tackles when they made the reception. The linebackers did give up some chunk yards to some of Green Bay’s running backs, but that may have been by design more than a lack of pure execution. On offense, we were effectively able to run the football, which opened up other parts of our offense, including the deadly RPO. And guess what - Alex Smith took some downfield shots!HTTR! Custom New England Patriots Jerseys
