CAPE TOWN Cheap Nike Air Max 97 Sliver , Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday denied reports that Tourism Minister Tokozile Xasa has justified rhino poaching.

"The Ministry of Tourism has noted with concern the fake news report purporting to reflect the views of the Minister of Tourism, Tokozile Xasa, on rhino poaching," spokesperson Mahlodi Muofhe said.

According to news emerging on social media, Xasa said on Monday that she was not against rhino poachers, but was against people who poach without a license.

"A rhino poacher must have a poaching license, to poach legally," Xasa reportedly said.

Xasa was quoted as saying that she does not have a problem with people making a little bit of extra cash on the side.

In reply to public questions about whether there is such a thing as a "poaching license", Xasa said: "Yes, I think there is. We know there are no jobs in South Africa. And we are not trying to block people from making a living. We are just against illegal poaching."

Her remarks has drawn grave concern from environmentalists.

"We state categorically that the Minister did not and could never have expressed any views remotely justifying the criminal and barbaric practice of rhino poaching," Muofhe said.

"The Minister condemns rhino poaching as she does all other forms of animal cruelty. Rhinos are an important part of our national and cultural heritage and must be protected for the benefit of current and future generations," the spokesperson said.

South Africa, home to more than 80 percent of the world's rhino population, bears the brunt of rhino poaching, having lost a total of 529 rhinos this year, official statistics show.

Several reports, including one on the implementation of the cybersecurity law and the protection of online information, will be put under discussion, according to the agenda.

HAVANA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cuba's famous beach resort of Varadero is preparing itself for more tourists with three new hotels, a water park and an 18-hole golf course, among other projects.

With white-sand beaches kissed by clear turquoise waters, Varadero is visited by more than a third of foreigners who come to Cuba.

In 2015, 1.35 million tourists visited the resort, a 14.2 percent increase compared with the previous year.

Canada is the main source of tourists to the the Caribbean resort, followed by Germany.

Varadero is located on the Hicacos Peninsula, which offers diverse recreational attractions, such as catamaran tours, sport fishing, scuba diving and excursions.

Seaside resorts are key to the development of Cuba's tourism industry, the island's second-largest foreign currency earner after the export of technical and professional services.

Since 2012, the island has registered a steady increase in visitor arrivals, which has made seaside resorts one of the most important growth engines for the Cuban economy. Tourism is a strategic sector in Cuban leader Raul Castro's reform plans to revive the country's economy.

LUSAKA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government on Saturday dismissed a complaint letter raised by the country's main opposition leader to the United Nations (UN) and other regional and international bodies over alleged threats on democracy and the breakdown of law and order.

Hakainde Hichilema, leader of the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND), has written a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, seeking intervention over President Edgar Lungu's threats on democracy and the breakdown of law and order in the country ahead of next week's general elections.

The opposition leader said recent acts of violence have put the county in a state of uncertainty and the potential for breakdown of law and order which could degenerate into a civil war, and asked the UN and other bodies to intervene.

But Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba said the move was "an act of desperation and hopelessness by the opposition leader in order to attract international attention to himself".

"We have learnt with sadness that the United Party for National Development leader has written an unpatriotic letter to the United Nations and copied it to the African Union, International Conference on the Great Lakes Region and other bodies," he said.

"The gist of this letter is the preposterous claim that democracy and freedoms have been eroded in Zambia by the government of President Edgar Lungu. We suspect that Mr. Hichilema is smelling a clear electoral defeat, a straight 5th personal loss for him that he can't appear to stomach," he added.

According to him, the basis and foundation of the letter hold no truth, and it was an attempt to merely scandalize the credible electoral process.

"We therefore call upon Zambians and the recipients of this desperate letter to dismiss its contents and disregard it as only worth fr its nuisance value," he added.
