By late Sunday night Andrus Peat Jersey , either the expansion Vegas Golden Knights will be headed to the Western Conference final or the San Jose Sharks will have forced a winner-take-all matchup.

That is what’s on the line for both teams heading into Game 6 of their second-round series in San Jose, Calif.

Vegas took a 3-2 series lead after holding on for a 5-3 home victory Friday. Alex Tuch scored twice for the Golden Knights, who gave up three goals in a 6:09 span of the third period to make it interesting before Jonathan Marchessault’s empty-netter.

Sharks forward Tomas Hertl said to keep the bags packed.

“It’s not over yet,” he told reporters. “We’ve got a home game now. We have to take it and start right away, and I believe we’ll come back (to Las Vegas) for Game 7.”

He may be on to something. The Sharks have been nearly unbeatable at home during the 2018 playoffs, posting a 3-1 record and outscoring their opponents 17-6. In Game 4 on Wednesday in northern California, Martin Jones made 34 saves for his sixth career playoff shutout in San Jose’s 4-0 win.

Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant told the team’s official website Saturday that he wouldn’t need to offer any encouragement or words of wisdom about this game.

“Our guys know that (San Jose is) going to come in and battle hard,” Gallant said. “They’re going to compete hard. That’s the way the game is going to be and that’s the way this series has gone.”

While the Sharks have plenty of playoff-tested veterans in Joe Pavelski, Brent Burns and Logan Couture (three assists in Game 5), Hertl joins that group. He scored during Friday’s third-period flurry, and leads San Jose with six goals this postseason — including four at home.

“He goes out and plays a man’s game at an important time of the year,” Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said of the fifth-year forward Stephen Gostkowski Jersey , who set a career high with 22 goals in the regular season.

Vegas is a first-year team, but its roster is dotted with plenty of playoff experience, especially with Marc-Andre Fleury in net. He has surrendered 17 goals and collected three shutouts to lift the Golden Knights to a 7-2 postseason record.

Fleury said he doesn’t think the team is looking ahead to what might happen because that’s not how they approached difficult situations during the season.

“I think we’ve had this mentality all year long. It’s all about the next game and it’s where our focus has to be,” said Fleury, who needs one win to become the 10th goaltender in NHL history with 70 playoff victories.

Vegas is 3-1 away from Sin City during the postseason but has been outscored 9-8. Seven players have goals for the Golden Knights, but only William Karlsson has more than one. Despite logging more than 39 minutes and 10 shots combined in Games 4 and 5, Karlsson failed to register a point.

He set career bests with 43 goals and 35 assists in the regular season.

In what might be the final game of the season, DeBoer said he expects the Sharks to start well and keep up that intensity throughout.

“If you are going to be eliminated or not, you don’t want to do it leaving your best game in the bag, so to speak,” he said Saturday. “We feel confident in our game. We feel that we’ve done it all year. We’ve shown up and played our best in tough situations.”

Vegas defenseman Luca Sbisa doesn’t want to see a seventh game.

“When you have a chance to close out a series — you want to do it as quickly as you can. You don’t want to give them any chance or any life,” he said Saturday.

Game 7 LaDainian Tomlinson Jersey , if necessary, is scheduled for Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

DALLAS — When the Philadelphia Flyers meet the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at American Airlines Center, one team will be looking to inch closer to clinching a playoff spot and the other is simply dying for a win to end a historically long losing streak.

The Flyers (38-25-13), who occupy the first wild-card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and look to return to the postseason after a one-year absence, clearly fit well within the first category.

Philadelphia is 19-12-7 on the road after losing 5-4 in overtime at Pittsburgh on Sunday, a game where the Flyers got a goal and two assists from Jordan Weal and two assists from Shayne Gostisbehere.

“I thought we played a good hockey game,” Philadelphia coach Dave Hakstol said after the OT loss. “We got another point. I think that’s our last five or six games getting points. We just got to keep pushing forward, keep playing well. Now we got to turn the page and go into Dallas.”

The Flyers are 13-11-4 against the Western Conference and 5-5-2 against the Central Division.

One of those five victories against the Central came against Dallas in Philadelphia on Dec. 16, when the Flyers edged the Stars 2-1 in overtime.

Philadelphia continues to be led by captain Claude Giroux with 65 assists and 91 points, the second time in his career he has eclipsed 90 points.

Giroux had a career-best 93 points in 77 games for the Flyers in 2011-12 and could be poised for the first 100-point season of his career. He also has had success against Dallas in a limited sample size with nine assists and 12 points in 14 career games.

Dallas (38-30-8, 84 points) dropped its eighth straight game with a 4-1 loss to Vancouver on Sunday.

The Stars are now 24-12-3 at home but haven’t won since March 9, when they defeated the Anaheim Ducks 2-1.

In March Trey Flowers Jersey , Dallas is 2-7-4, has been outscored 45-27 (-18 goal differential) and has scored three or more goals only three times.

“We have to pick our heels up and get back at it and see if we can piece some good part of our game,” Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said after Sunday’s loss to Vancouver. “I don’t think there is one part of our game right now that is exceptional. We have to find a way to regroup here.”

The skid is Dallas’ longest since the franchise relocated from Minnesota in 1993, an ironic fact considering the Stars have been commemorating their 25th season in the Lone Star State.

With six games to play, including just two more at home, Dallas sits five points behind St. Louis for the second and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Sunday’s loss dropped the Stars’ playoff chances to 3.2 percent, but Dallas defenseman John Klingberg, who is second among NHL defenseman with 61 points, isn’t quite ready to give up the fight.

“We have six more games,” Klingberg said. “If we play perfect, then maybe we have a chance, it will be tough Delano Hill Jersey , but we have to stay professional and try to do it.”

After Sunday’s loss, Hitchcock said he wasn’t looking at giving backup goaltender Mike McKenna, a 34-year-old journeyman with 22 games of NHL experience, a start in favor of Kari Lehtonen, who has struggled since starter Ben Bishop went down with a knee injury during Dallas’ recent winless six-game road trip.

However, any other changes are on the table per the Dallas coach.

“I think we have to look at everything and I think we have to look at the energy. We have to look at everything,” Hitchcock said.

Neither team practiced Monday.
