BERLIN Grossiste Nike Air Max Typha , June 16 (Xinhua) -- Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl died at his home in Germany's Ludwigshafen on Friday.

Kohl served as German chancellor between 1982 and 1998 and is well known as the "chancellor of unity" for his active political plan bringing west and east Germany together.

Under heavy pressure in 1989 he negotiated with the leaders of the United States and the Soviet Union and secured a peaceful and stable Germany reunification, Deutsche Presse Agentur reported.

He is also hailed for his contribution to European integration and the European single currency and market. He persuaded Germans to give up the then strong Deutsche Mark and adopted euro.

As a leader for Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Kohl was seen as the mentor for Chancellor Angela Merkel.

On late Friday, Merkel paid tribute to Kohl during her visit in Rome saying the news of his death fill her "with great sadness." She said her own life had changed with Kohl's guidance which she was extremely grateful to.

Merkel also called Kohl "stroke of luck of us German," since Kohl seized the historic chance and overcome difficulties to unify Germany.

CDU party posted on Twitter: "We are in sorrow. #RIP #HelmutKohl."

At Kohl's house in Ludwigshafen, flowers were laid by mourners by the staircase.

In 2002, Kohl resigned from lower house of the parliament Bundestag and officially left politics.

He began fighting with illness after a fall and a head injury in 2008, and since then he had to sit on a wheelchair and could barely speak. Kohl received a intestine surgery in 2015 and since then his condition gradually worsened.

He died at the age of 87.

BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing wildlife park whose tigers killed a woman and severely mauled another was not to blame for the incident, according to the results of an official investigation announced on Wednesday.

The tourists ignored park rules and clear warning signs when one of them got off their car in an area that contained three free-roaming Siberian tigers, an investigation by Beijing's Yanqing district government found.

The attack took place at Badaling Wildlife World on July 23, when a 32-year-old woman surnamed Zhao left her car, walked around the vehicle and stood by the door on the driver's side. A tiger showed up and dragged her off.

The husband of the woman and her 57-year-old mother both got out of the car in an attempt to rescue her. The mother was mauled to death, while Zhao suffered severe injuries.

The park allows visitors to drive their own cars through an area where the animals roam free, but they are instructed to stay in their vehicles.

The report also indicated some problems with the park's emergency training and suggested it find better ways to remind tourists to pay more attention to safety.

The park has 12 tigers in total, with three in the free-roaming zone when the attack happened.

Badaling Wildlife World covers an area of 400 hectares and has about 10,000 animals.

NAIROBI, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's highest court on Wednesday returned a damning finding against the poll body for failing to conduct the Aug. 8 presidential elections in accordance with the constitution and vowed it would nullify any future elections which do not conform to the dictates of the law.

Supreme Court President and Chief Justice David Maraga said irregularities, including the failure to conduct the presidential election in accordance with the national laws, rendered it null and void.
